2022 Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference!

Sylvania Schools issued the following announcement on Feb 11.

Congratulations to all of our talented students and music educators who participated and performed Feb. 3-5 in Cleveland at the 2022 Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference! Sylvania was exceptionally well represented with 22 students participating in All-State ensembles. Participating in OMEA All-State is based on audition, difficult to achieve acceptance and a tremendous honor.  

Sylvania All-State students include:

• All-State Orchestra members - Sara Lee, Jake Weil, Emma Foster, Andrew Zheng, & Steven Liu

• All-State Band members - Nathan Nolan & Kate Lavalette

• All-State Choir members - Jack Urich, Nicolas Golini, & Isabella Olzak

• All-State Children’s Chorus members - Desmond Chiapetta, Madeline Boden, Harper Rasey, Suha Tina Al Nakeep, Madeline Barnhart, Kendall Kidman, Nadiya Aossey, Abigail Ballard, Kennah Dunbar, Ramona Lindsey, Miyasi Welivita, & Leah Williamson

Amanda Rasey, Maplewood Music, served as a regional chair and guest conducted the All-State Children’s Chorus.

Megan Rhodes, Hill View Music, presented the session Building Resilience: Exploring the Social Benefits of Music Education for All Learners at the conference.
