Telephone Scam Alert

Lucas County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Mar 17.

PLEASE SHARE:  We have received several phone calls that imposters are claiming to be from the L.C.S.O. (Brian Ward and Lt. Daniels).  

These scammers have stated that members of our community were supposed to report for, and failed to appear for jury duty. The scammers then state that there is a warrant for their arrest  The scammers attempt to intimidate citizens over the phone by utilizing threatening tones and are very beligerent.  One member of the community was even told they needed to show up at 1622 Spielbusch and pay $2,755 (cash) for bond and the scammer attempted to coerce the caller from even hanging up the phone.  

The Lucas County Sheriff's Office will never call anyone in the community to advise them of missing a jury duty date or demand any form of payment. 

The scammers are also utilizing telephone technology that shows the L.C.S.O. on the caller I.D.  

One number was  419-324-2492, Ext. 5 - DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!
