Waterville Primary Music Teacher Tai Knoll was nominated for the Toledo Symphony's 2021-2022 Outstanding Music Educator Award, but she needs your vote!

Tai Knoll is a first year Music Teacher at Waterville Primary School, teaching students in kindergarten through fourth grade. She has organized numerous formal and informal student performances throughout the school year, including a Veterans Day Program, winter caroling, class performances during lunch, and more. Her greatest joy of working at Waterville Primary is getting to teach and collaborate with the creative minds of young musicians every day.

Tai graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education and Flute Performance from BGSU in April 2021. While attending college, she performed with numerous ensembles, including Wind Symphony, Concert Band, the Falcon Marching Band, Women's Chorus, and the University Choral Society. Tai was an active member of the International Music Fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota, earning the Sword of Honor her senior year. She served in leadership positions within the BGSU Chapter of Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association (OCMEA) and State Board.

In 2020, Tai was awarded the Collegiate Professional Achievement Award from the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) for her work with OCMEA during the 2019-2020 school year. She was also a member of the BGSU Honors College and Alumni Laureate Scholars Program. In 2020, Tai completed her Honors Project, "Exploring Moroccan Music through Experiential Learning", after her study abroad in Morocco and has since brought her studies into classrooms at Rossford Elementary, Wauseon Elementary, and Waterville Primary School.

In the music room, Tai strives to create a safe and brave space for students to explore, create, and grow as young musicians. Tai’s goal as a teacher is to provide a comprehensive musical education that is accessible to and affirming of all students, equipping them with the grit and skills needed to flourish both as musicians and well-rounded members of society.
