After more than a dozen rounds and nearly 100 words, Anthony Wayne Junior High has its Spelling Bee champion! | Anthony Wayne Local School District
After more than a dozen rounds and nearly 100 words, Anthony Wayne Junior High has its Spelling Bee champion!
Two days of HomeBase competition and the elimination of 30 other students came down to the final competitors, Caleb Conwell, Lauren Anders and Eleanor Cherlois. Lauren missed a word, then it was down to two. The final pair outlasted the other 30 students to then battle several intense rounds before Caleb correctly spelled 'maneuverable' to claim the top spot.
Caleb moves on to the next round of competition which involves an online test spelling test on March 15, 2023 which will pit him against other school champions in the Northwest Ohio area. This will take place on March 15th, 2023.
From there, the top 20-25 spellers will advance to The Toledo Blade Bee on March 25th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Owens Community College.
