Census Bureau: 6% of people in Lucas County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 431,212 citizens living in Lucas County in 2021, 94% said they were only one race, while 6% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Lucas County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 70.7% or 304,762 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 19% and totaled 82,021 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Lucas County is 1.7% higher than the state average, which stands at 4.3%.
