Crisis Intervention Training

Officer Christine Fouty and Officer Ashley Kunesh completed Crisis Intervention Training this week!

The CIT program is a 40 hour course that focuses on teaching law enforcement officers how to recognize and work with individuals who are in crisis. These individuals may be experiencing crisis associated with mental health, substance abuse, or developmental disabilities.

Officers spent the week being educated by multiple presenters, engaging in scenarios, and traveling to different sites around the community that provide resources to individuals in crisis.

These trainings help us learn important signs and symptoms to look for as well as develop our de-escalation techniques, so that we can better serve our community!
